Appointment Setting HolidaysWe hear this all the time, even from our own reps when they are having a slow week: "December is terrible for lead gen.  End of year and the holidays...."

True, people have other things on their minds. Some might be closing out the year, but many are willing to help those elves with their heads down making appointments.  So I give you these thoughts to consider, and recommend you keep dialing with cheer:

  • Prospects are thinking about next year
  • Prospects are traveling less and possibly sitting next to their phones (especially during the week between Christmas and New Year's)
  • Prospects' calendars are not as busy as normal and can accommodate an introductory meeting
  • Prospects are thinking about the new year and a new beginning and may be more receptive to new ideas
  • Prospects' admins may be on vacation and the prospects are answering their own phones

That might be the most amazing thing I have ever seen!

I agree with Matt. I'm not even sure there is content here because I can't get beyond the picture! :)

Seriously though, you're right Mike. This is a great time of year to reach prospects and book appointments. Another reason may be that prospects take vacation time after the 25th, and are working tirelessly before that, thus increasing the likelihood that they'll be at their desks.

Mike,
My apologies too but that is one of the best photos of 2009.

What if sales people did the same with exisiting customers and used the call to find out what additional needs their customers are going to have in 2010 and set up a meeting to explore in more detail what those needs are and how they can best be satisfied.

I agree with your points, Mike. The holiday season is a great time to reach out and talk to people. They are not traveling, they are at their desks, etc. It's simply too easy to make excuses. Don't be pushy. Look to help. Do your research.

Love the picture too.
